More on Project 1

Let us know how you are doing on Project 1. What sites, apps, etc. did you select to review and why? What are you thinking of doing for your lesson plan? How will this lesson plan help others to understand how the selected technology will be implemented in the classroom? Did your reviews give enough attention to the section in which you address how the selected technology can be used in a lesson plan? What questions do you have for us?

  1. For project 1, I am reviewing the app Monkkey Math as well as the website Starfall. Both are geared towards young students. For my lesson plan I will probably do an activity that will go along with Monkey math because I am familiar with the Kindergarten Math curriculum.

  2. I selected Prezi for my first review. It is a site that I have used multiple times and wanted to further explore it. I also wanted to put the information out there to get more people into Prezi. For my lesson plan, I am still deciding between two sites to incorporate into my lesson. I most likely will work with Prezi because I can use this tool throughout my lesson.

  3. For project 1 I am reviewing Socrative. I have not decided on what application I will use for my second review. I have a majority of my first review completed on both my Weebly and Google sites. I have not yet decided on what I will do for my lesson plan.

  4. I finished my first review on Glogster Edu the other day and posted to Weebly and Google Sites. I had never heard of this site prior to perusing past websites. The other site I will revciw is familiar to me...Weebly, which I used last year for a Lit Circle website and blog. My lesson plan will be using Glogster. I am thinking of having students make State Glogster posters for their state projects.

  5. So far, I reviewed Socrative for my first review. I created a virtual classroom through the Socrative site as well. I am thinking I want to use Socrative for my lesson, so i can gain more experience with using the site.

  6. I am still working on my first review of Google Docs/Drive. I am learning a lot; there is just so much to write about! For my second review I am going to be looking at The Poe Museum's website http://www.poemuseum.org/index.php. There are some very good resources for kids and teachers. I think doing Poe as part of a unit around Halloween would be thematic and fun! (He is a pretty spooky writer.) I will most likely do my lesson using The Poe website!

  7. I am reviewing the website abcya.com because I was hoping to find some venue for kids to do meaningful independent work while I am working with my guided reading groups and math groups, and conferring with student writers. My problem each year is always keeping up with the amount of correcting/paper I have to do since I like to take my time giving students quality feedback, so I wanted to find something that kids could use to self-check their own progress that would give them more immediate feedback. I am also reviewing Photo Story because some of my students expressed an interest in using it last year for our Biography Unit final presentation but I shied away from it and could not teach them because I did not know it well enough myself. I am not sure what lesson I am doing yet or with which site but am leaning toward Photo Story. I will work on revising both reviews and adding more suggestion for classroom use.
